I am moving my Juicy Ultimates to a new bike, and I'd like to get a larger rotor up front (was 160). I was thinking that I would try the Alligator Serration 180- good deal on Pricepoint right now. The adapters for Avid are apparently 185, not 180... will that work, or do I need to find a 180 adapter... or a 185 rotor??

You can use the Shimano adapters for 180mm rotors with the Juicy's. I'm currently using this combo with Alligator rotors.

Just get the correct bracket to fit your fork/caliper combo.

Thanks... I didn't think to look at Shimano stuff to work with Avid. Um, forgive me for what may be a dumb question, but what more is there to matching up adapters to brakes/rotors? I have a Minute 29er and Juicy Ultimates... does that make a difference?

Or would it be just as easy to say "eff it" and go to 203 since the avid adapters would be the same as the Alligator rotor? Total overkill for xc?

203 is way overkill for XC.

I'm running the same fork and brake combo so here is the bracket you are going to need.

Shimano adapters will work. I'm running Avid calipers, Shimano adapters, and Alligator rotors just fine.
