A few Rogue Hoe handles burned up during this summer's west cost fires. Rectangular handle mount 1" x 1.75" x 3.5". Not available at Rogue Hoe Sales currently. Has anyone used / modified any off the shelf handles or other parts from the big box lumber stores? Wood, steel, fiberglass?..... Thinking about modding a mattox fiberglass handle to fit Rogue dimension using epoxy and (2) bolts. Typically leave tools out in the hills/ woods. Thanks, Gus
Tried an axe handle? Our hoes have the curved hickory handles which look very similar to a wooden axe handle. Trimming of the handle to fit the blade socket would probably be required. Epoxy and rivets sounds like a good plan to secure blade to handle; I think the stock versions use this same method.
It looks like J. R. Fire Tools has 40" recurve handles in stock. A bit more $$$ than Rogue. J. R. Fire Tools are sort of an improved Rogue clone so the handle might fit but if not exact should be close enough.
Go to your local hardwood lumber yard and buy some hickory. It’s relatively cheap and can be cut to the appropriate shape with a table saw, draw knife and an orbital sander.
It's very interesting, I don't know what to advise you
