I love the Surly Instigator. A full bounce one of those would be pretty cool too.
The SON hub on the front was a great idea too. That looks like a great bike to get lost with.
I'm just now getting around to seeing this, but I really do hope they can find a justification for making this - epic capability in less than ideal conditions, and ability to run 29x2.2" wheels/tires the rest of the year: I'm enamored with the absurdly capable and flexible Instinct I have from RMB now, but the Sherpa really looks like a fantastic answer to the quiver bike question, especially with the added flexibility of being able to run two different wheelsets, change out chainrings (or run 2x10), and use the Ride9 to adjust geometry.
