Rocky Mountain Hammer Build

Just picked this up off Ebay for $180 shipped. Im planning on doing a rigid 1x9 build. It'll be my first 29er bike! This is going to be a budget build(as in, cheaply as possible). I may possibly be building my own wheels for this as well, any ideas would be greatly entertained.

There are a couple on ebay right now. Not sure if they are the right size for you.
Hey, that's my front door? Oh yeah, you scored the frame from me!! Too funny. I will have it in the mail early next week, and if you need a headset I have a Cane creek s8 and a few other parts that may work well...just let me know.

Hey Hansel,
What size tire do you think I can fit in the back of this frame comfortably. I want the biggest tire I can fit.
That's a good question. Since I never built the frame i'm not too sure. There were a couple of threads in the RM forum of some custom Hammer builds but I can't seem to find them. I'll shoot you a PM later today with some parts that I have. I figure If your interested I could just toss them in the frame box. Are you doing gears or SS?
1x9 or 1x10
So I swung by the LBS today to drop off some trade in parts from my roadbike and got my hands on a basically new take-off fork. The fork is an oem Tora off an '11 specialized rockhopper expert. 75 bucks. Thats budget material.
Added a set of WTB Bronson Race 2.2 tires to the build list. No budget for the tires. Wanted something I know will work here. 89 bucks for the pair shipped from tree fort bikes.
Here is the build list as of today(subject to change):

16.5" Hammer frame - $180

2011 Tora TK oem Fork - $75 (NTO from 2011 specialized rockhopper expert)

Race Face Deus xc blk Headset 34mm stack - $32
Thomson Elite stem - blk 25.4 -$45
Surly Fleegle H-Bar(?)
Truvativ team seatpost - $10 - 270g (Thinking of biting the bullet and getting a Thomson to match the stem.)
Truvativ 1.1 gxp cranks - $25
Truvativ team gxp BB
Salsa 32T ring
N-Gear Jump-stop 28.6
WTB Rocket ti saddle - $10 - 210gr
WTB Bronson race 29 2.2" - $89
ODI rogue grips - $0.00 (already had)
WTB speed discs w/ slx hubs and dt 14g spokes, brass nips OR DT x470's w/ slx hubs, 14/15 spokes and alloy nips

Frame should be here today as long as the storm hasn't delayed the shipment. Says it went out for delivery this morning and tracking hasn't been updated with a postponement. Tires should be here today as well. Updated the build list w/ newest purchases and ideas for other items.

Does anyone here have any time on WTB speed disc AM rims or the DT x470's/520's? Good, Bad, indifferent?
Out for delivery at 7am and still not there, man you guys must have gotten "hammered" with snow!! Upstate we only got a couple inches.

Started as rain yesterday morning then changed to snow about noon. We had about 4" @ 11pm. Woke this morning at 7 to about 18". It continued until about noon with over 2'. Needless to say, the frame will be here tomorrow.

Local weather says 5th largest storm recorded in the Lake Champlain valley.

Looking like a good build... Should be nice once you put it together... Any particular reason that you are thinking SS now? Why not get two back wheels and make it so you can convert from SS to 1x9? And that is a nice deal on the WTB SpeedDisc!

Probably starting SS for budgetary reasons, although he may very well find out that he won't want to add a dérailleur!
No need for two wheels, just swap spaced single cog for a cassette.

Los
This is a real nice frame and I like the color. I wish I would've picked one up when I was looking for a new frame.
Very true... but really a decent rear derailleur can be had for what $40?
