I'm looking for a decent entry level MTB for XC (man this lingo is great)

I'm ready to wait a year if I have to as summer is winding down and autmn being a short season and all

these are two that the LBS have recommended

But I've seen on here so far woodstock and randall scott, etc.

But how do the two in the title compare?

should I wait it out or buy online?

any kind of help would be appreciated

its probably best to buy from a bike shop. find a bike that you like in your price range and buy it. try as many bikes as you can to see what you like. there are some good deals online though. i bought an ibex as my first good mtb and i love it. randallscott has some nice ironhorses on sale right now. just make sure you get the right size if you buy online.
