Roadie crap.....fixed el Tour riders

I think a few of you were planning on riding the el Tour fixed, but cannot remember who it was. Scanjok and myself rode it and only saw a few other people on fixies (I know Rudi rode it). Our times didn't set the world on fire, but riding 109 miles with out coasting is an experience. Other than Scanjok's rear wheel almost coming apart with about a 30 minute pit stop to tension the spokes/true the wheel, it wasn't too bad. We got under 7 hrs and proved to ourselves it wouldn't kill our knees. I ran 44/16 and was really worried I wouldn't be able to pull it the full distance, but it worked well. Worst part was the Snyder Rd. climb, but it was short. All in all it was a pretty good time.

Wish I could have joined you but I spent the weekend moving-I would have preferred to ride the course in a 53-13 towing a trailer with a sumo wrestler aboard. Did you ride mostly in groups or did you have a fixie peleton going?

Plan next year is to take out the Tommasini with a 45x15 or maybe even a 13 if I can get it up the road. I was figuring it couldnt be worse climbing from the mine on the soul ride in the 32x16.

No fixie peleton. Jdub and myself road 44/16, and we drafted off as many people as we could.
Oh ya, this was about a million times easier then the soul ride.
Missed it

I had originaly intended to do this on the Fillmore, but there was a fitty mile MTB race on the same day(Dust Devil), so I opted for that instead. Five laps of Sport/Tech, Long at McDowell = about four hours of fun! First and second(me) places were on singlespeeds. There was some Pro there from Colorado, who was whupping up on us, even with a missed start and five flats! I guess the 5th one was the last straw, cause after that he DNFed. Sometimes reliability trumps light weight and gears! :)
Ya, i was looking for you out there, kinda hard with 4,000ish people. However, I did see your name in second place on the dust devil marathon. Congrats...I plan on going to the next dirt devil, trying to find out if i can camp there

Should be no prob. We usually just throw up a tent or two right there in the parking lot. I think they charge like 8 bucks. Bring beer!
