Im taking a road trip in July, want to ride the Umpqua. where do I camp, wheres the trail head, also how about the Mckinzie trail? And is the trip worth while?????. your info would be great.

For the Umpqua check out the BLM's interactive map. It shows all the trailheads and campgrounds. Everything should be open by July except for Maidu which is closed to biking. Ignore the info showing Calf being closed.

That BLM site is about the best government project I've ever seen put together. Pretty amazing website.

Ignore the trail closure dated May '07... I just never got around to updating it. This is a good reminder to do so. Have fun... the N.U.T. is about the best stretch of trail on the planet.
