Or you just use a crankset with a proper chainline. Still limited to bottom pull cable routing and have the issue of road FD and mtb shifters using different cable pulls.dypeterc said:here's how to get it to work:

Like I said, use a crank with a proper chainline, which no current mtb crank has, or use a FD designed for the crankset.dypeterc said:x.0 crank chainline is x.0 crank chainline. no reasonable way of fixing that. also, my bike is of the bottom-pull variety so no prob there. and i'm using gripshift so again no problem.
not true. cannondale hollowgram SL cranks come in a variety of spindle and spiders combos. however, i don't have that kind of scratch... modifications to the road FD are easy.shiggy said:Like I said, use a crank with a proper chainline, which no current mtb crank has, or use a FD designed for the crankset.
Not sure where your getting your prices...Universal Cycles is only a $8 difference between the two and the XO doesn't require any mods and works top (which more than 50% of mountain bikes use) and bottom pull.dypeterc said:not true. cannondale hollowgram SL cranks come in a variety of spindle and spiders combos. however, i don't have that kind of scratch... modifications to the road FD are easy.
force FD = 102g; $60
x.0 2x10 FD = 130g; $82
no brainer...
i don't know where you're getting YOUR prices from but i just checked universal cycles and the force FD is $70 and x.0 FS is $82. my prices are from pricepoint. again, if you read my previous post, i'm running a bottom-pullmtnbiker72 said:Not sure where your getting your prices...Universal Cycles is only a $8 difference between the two and the XO doesn't require any mods and works top (which more than 50% of mountain bikes use) and bottom pull.
