I've been out of the weight weenie scene for a while and now it's time to get a new drivetrain on my road bike. Currently I have a Zipp Quad Vuma which is super light and feels stiff, but wonder how the new Dura Ace 9000 compares.

I like all the ring choices on the Dura Ace, I'd love to have 38/52 gearing but can't get that with the Zipp crankset apparently.

What do you guys think? Does anyone have weight comparisons between the two? Are there any other nice cranksets I should consider?

Thanks!

Claimed weight on the Zipps is 580 grams, they use a 30 mm spindle. The Dura Ace's come in at 630, (bikerumor), 24 mm spindle.

Your cranks are lighter and probably not noticeably any less stiff the Shimano units.

FYI, Zipp stopped producing cranks a while ago. Getting Zipp specific spares may start to become an issue.
