road bike question

557 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  john the bed
I've been looking at older c'dale frames on ebay and was wondering if one like this: 7202455363 needed any proprietary parts like bb, crankset etc. Also, does anyone know the year of this one?

Thanks!

Welcome to mtbr.com. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll find the road bikers forum. ;) :D
Provide a full link.

I will take a look at it, but I need a full link to the bike. I am too lazy.
I did some research and apparently the caad4 frame which this is doesn't use the Si bb, the seller said he had ultegra components set up as a 9 speed. Here's the link to the frame:

Correct.

If I had known it was CAAD4 I would have been able to tell you that it does not use the SI bb setup. Any seller that has an SI frame for sale is going to advertize it as that, and also have the BB crankset to go with it.

Are you going to get that frame? It will use standard road components.
IDK yet, seems like all the caad4's have gone for 170-250ish in the past so it's in that good deal zone with less than an hour left....
I used to have a caad 5 frame. It was 1 sweet ride. If not a little bit harsh at the back. The diference between the caad 4 and the 5 was that the 5 had an intergrated headset.I read somewhere it was still the same frame. Then the caad 6 was still the same but it had the SI bottom bracket. And the caad 7 was a complete redesign.
I'm still on my "Black Lighning" now which is a caad 7.
