So I've been doing my research on some shin/knee pads. I've ridden in the past with pads and have always been annoyed with an itchy feeling from the straps and was always bothered by twisting ot he pads etc.

My research has let me to the Roach FR. It seems as though these can actually be peddle in comfortably without having to be constantly adjusted. Is this what everyone else that owns these pads are finding?

Also, I'm 6'2" but only about 190lbs. I've got chicken legs like the most of us, the Roach site suggests I get size XL, but I'm concerned that the straps will be too large, any input?

I use the Rally DH, which has a netting that covers the back of your leg and the velcro straps attach over top of it. It also has, what i like to call, a floating knee pad which rests against your knee and makes pedaling much more comfortable (Rally FR does not have this pad). Once i put these on they never need further adjusting (and i'm riding Whistler bike park/trails all day).

I'm 5'9" and have size L... they fit fine. Remember you don't want to crank them on like ski boots because you will get muscle fatigue from "leg pump". XL should fit you fine, but pads are definitely something you want to try on before you buy.

I have the Rally FR's and I dig 'em.

Considering the heat down here, they're pretty comfy and once they're on, they stay put even during pedaling.

I am 5'11" 210lbs. and I have the size lg Roach FR arm and shin guards. They are great and don't get in the way, slip or get hot. The XL should be fine because I have very big calf's and forearms and the pads come with short(er) straps but they stretch. I wouldn't worry about it just get them you will be glad you did.

any recommendations on where to find these at a good price? Supergo is having some summer sale starting in a couple days and they carry Roach.. I'm going to see what kind of prices they have then.

we just got a bunch more in. They are really nice...super comfortable and breathable. I am 6'3 and I wear the large cause I gots the scrawny legs as well.

FYI - they are now the "RACE FACE" FR leg armor. Our newest shipment came in with the RACE FACE logo instead of Roach. The DH version still said Roach on em though. I think they may be changing the name on both but they may keep the DH ones as "ROACH" . Same company though so don't be scared :D
