What's the significance of this marker on Horsethief Bench? Picture taken a couple weeks ago. I hadn't noticed it before. A quick search here and on google was fruitless.

What's the significance of this marker on Horsethief Bench?

I haven't seen it, haven't ridden HT in a few weeks. I would speculate that it's a memorial to the dead cow from a few winters ago.

Where was it? I can't tell from the pic but if it was at the halfway portage then it's definitely about the cow.

i heard it's all still dry, but pretty damn cold still.

As to conditions, they were superb when I was there, but I'm sure there's been some precip and even more cold since then.

Just some background... A rancher shot the cow for whatever reason and left the carcass right on the friggin' trail. It was there for months, like all winter. The worst part was that since it was at the portage, you had to dismount and slowly walk past it.

Someone, presumably the rancher, dragged the body down the drainage a ways in spring when it got warm and started to stink. Of course the dogs still had to check it out everytime... bleh.

Taiwan actually for the next month. I've been here for three weeks now and I'm loving it. Then it's back to Moab for a month. We should meet up. It'll be in Febuary.
It's funny, I keep running across parts for "Made in USA" and "Made in Canada" companys and I just have to laugh at the marketing **** some companies pull. (don't ask) Too funny!

They will be done and shipped to us first of Febuary. So somewhere near the end of Febuary. I just got the low down at dinner so your the first to know. F1 too. I'll have the Lucky prototype next week, built and ready too ride. It's close to the Balance but 7-8" travel.
