I am right at 6', and I am putting the finishing touches on my build. I am looking for a ballpark estimate of the amount of spacers to put under my stem. I have a SIR 9 L that I run about 10mm under the stem; however, the Rip appears to have a bit longer head tube than the SIR, and I am running a 100mm fork on the Sir and a 140mm on the RIP. I just need a few ideas on what others are riding so I can make my initial cut.
Thanks

And the answer is: zero!

But be generous with your initial cut and put 20mm of spacers on top and ride it before you make your final decision. I am sure you will end up slamming it, but you can't put steerer back on, eh?

I switched from a tall (15mm?) headset cap (shown below) to a very short one (5mm) when I went to a 140mm fork.

Dude, that thing is sweet!

What crankset is that? 2x10 it appears. What rear set up also - derailleur, cassette...

Beautiful RIP9 there. Then again I'm yet to see one I don't like.:)
Looks like you're running a very short stem.
I'm 6 foot even and ride a large. I use a 100mm zero rise (thomson) stem and have 10mm spacer above my headset.
I generally like my bars at the same height as the saddle. Makes descending nicer.

Thanks guys

Looks like I will go with zero under and ten on top. I'll post up some pics when she is done.

Concur on zero spacers... I am running a 2mm spacer, but only because I didn't feel like shaving off that 2mm from the steer tube after I already had it cut.

I had zero spacers on my old fork due to the fact that the guy I bought the fork from cut most of the tube off. When I upgraded the fork I used spacers so my handlebars were at the top of the tube. It turned my rip into a sit up happy tank. I really like it better this way....but it could be the upgrade from a crappy fork.
