I just got my Panaracer Fire XC's in the mail yesterday, and when I went to put them on my rims, it seems as they don't fit. My rims are OLD!!! Weinmann 519 (came with the bike, 2000 Hard Rock Comp) but they are 26" rims, so I thought the Panaracers would fit, they are 26x2.10.

Do I need to invest in new rims or should the tires fit?

Thanks

Well to try to explain it better..... I take the rim, fit the tube on, then fit the tire, the tire covers the whole tube and rim. When I try to fit the tire in the rim, the tires doesn't sit. I hope I explained it better.

Nope. Still no clue.

Put more air in it... It sounds more like you've never changed a tire?? You need more air in the tube to hold the walls of the tire up against the rim.

Good luck.
The tires definately fit. I still have a set of Weinman 519's kicking around. Great tires for when I need something in an emergency.

I beg to differ on the "not needing levers" deal. Ever tried to mount a set of IRC Mythos tires? I've snapped two plastic tire levers trying to get them on. My older tires (WTB raptors of some sort, can't remember the exact model) were simple and I could do by hand, but the IRC tires' beads seem almost too small for the rim (Bontrager Race).

Yes I have. No levers, no problem. Went right on. I can mount and remove 95% of all tire/rim combos without tools.
