I've been looking around the online shops for black riding shorts that fall below the knee but the information on the product almost never mentions how long it is and I can't really tell by just looking at the pictures. Shops here where I live don't have very good selection for apparel. I think most DH shorts fall below the knee but arent' the material usually fairly thick and therefore hot? Any recommendations or information would be much appreciated!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

try backcountry.com and also their outlet page. I know oakley shorts state their inseam length, like 13 inches falls "generally" right at the knee, maybe just below, all depends on you. Sombrio shorts are more DH oriented, but have lightweight models which are long. check it out. Some will be in black.
Spectrumtechwear are long, may still be onsale: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=442157

Adidas Schley shorts are awesome, I have two. The bottom of the leg is cut a bit longer in front than in back. They ride very nice when pedaling with or without my kyle straights on. They cover the kneecap completely when standing. They're lightweight nylon so stay cool when climbing. Here they are on backcountry.com:

Chainlove will occasionally have them for $27, that's where I bought mine, so keep yer eyes peeled (list price is $85 ... <3 Chainlove!)

Yeah, I have a pair of Sombrios and I love them but they are pricey. The fit is great. Was wondering if TLD or Fox would have something i was looking for. Thanks.

Exactly! I ALWAYS ride with my kyle straights and it just looks... um... gay?... when the shorts ride up too high and expose thigh between the shorts and the knee pads. My sombrios cover my knees and abit more when standing so these Adidas shorts sound like what I'm looking for. Thanks! Any idea which model of TLD or Fox etc have similar lengths?

I totally agree with wanting longer shorts, and for the same reason. Hopefully someone else can chime in, I have no experience with TLD or Fox shorts. The Fox sergeant model seems long enough, and I love the look, but I've read bad reviews on fit and comfort (though I can't comment from personal experience.)
