I am probably heading up to Powell for a couple of weeks again early this summer and would like to get some recommendations for trail rides. Last year I was there and only got one (awsome) ride in up Clarks Fork Canyon River trail. I also tried to ride in the Badlands north of Powell but did not enjoy that very much. I was thinking of trying a ride in the Big Horn Mountains but never got around to it. I am up for just about any level of trail (other than flat!) and don't mind a little hike-a-bike or stream crossings. Anyone live in the area and have a recommendation?

I don't have any rides, but just hearing the town name brings back a lot of memories. We lived there in boom times. I bet there's nice trails in the Big Horns, or possibly back towards the Sunshine Basin. Or, what about up on the Beartooth Plateau, I can't remember if that's wilderness or not ( Red Lodge?)

for Wyoming reading, try Bad Dirt by Annie Proulx, awesome short stories that really paint a great picture of the place.

there are trails in the Mcullough peaks area...NOrth fork- of the shoshone, eagle creek trial...etc... Also check with IMBA affliated club members in wyoming...and look at Shell they have an organization....Also check with the local Cody shops.......there is great trail right out of Shell...Falcon Press --Mountian Biking Wyoming by Amber Trasky is another good book.
