Hi. Wife and I are from NJ and will be in Seattle last week of August,26th thru 1st Sept. We have nothing to do by day besides ride. We are All Mtn/XC types with marginal climbing stamina but intermediate technical skills, we love to ride, drops below 2 feet are ok, admittedly unaccustomed to altitudes. Most our climbs here are about 400-500 feet tops.
Anyways, we like rugged, rooty, rutted and trails that offer small obstacles, logs, rocks, etc.

I dont think I can climb for miles and that concerns me, though the wife does better being lighter and fitter. Are any of you available during the day to ride around with outta towners?
We have to spend a day or two in Mukilteo, and have bike cases, and will be bringing our own bikes out there. Have any ideas on great places to catch good rides, enjoy some aggro XC, rewarding DH type stuff?

If you find yourself down in the south end, email me and I can show you around Banner Forest any day (except Wednesday, I lead a ride out at Banner at 5:00pm, which you are welcome to join) in the late afternoon.

Banner is located 30 minutes west of Tacoma off of HWY 16. It’s nothing spectacular but has a little bit of everything, except hills.

Hmm Tiger Mountain and Fawn Ridge/Skookum Flats might be your cup of tea. Both below the 20 mile mark, some climbing but nothing to kill you. Good descents, techy trails, good trail rides that take some work but won't kill you.
