I'm in the mood for a long ride. The sunup to sundown kind of ride. One where the water filter comes along and there are plenty of places to use it.

Good singletrack, 4x4 roads, some hike-a-bike, and maybe a secret trail or two.

The ingredients of a perfect adventure.

The route is about 70 miles, but moving time is in the 10 hour range.

Still reading? This is without a doubt one of the best epic loops in AZ. I'm thinking this weekend, and both Saturday and Sunday are open.

Post any interest here, or email me (smorris AT topofusion.com) for route details.

No running, I like the sound of that.

The route may or may not include: Elephant Head, Bull Springs, Josephine Canyon, Temporal, the highway, mucho AZT, Box Canyon, Madera Canyon road.

Last time Lee and I did it we climbed 3/4ths of Mt. Hopkins and slid down Tia Juana ridge, too. We'll skip that this time, shaving off quite a bit of climbing.

You'll want the Lev for this one, methinks. Not planning on going "fast" at all, though daylight dictates a tendency towards forward progress.

It's the Tubac Art Fair this weekend, Wed thru Sun. I'm the one running my show. Any way to go anytime next week? I"d sure hate to miss out on this one!

Lee,

I could do it on Monday, but I think Dave and others will need to stick with the weekend. ?? Much of this route is due to Lee, our Santa Rita expert, so it'll be a shame if he can't make it.

Weather looks great. I like the idea of tempo pace :) Let's schedule in some GET soon, maybe so Dave C can come down, at least one over-nighter.
Oh, you were serious about going too slow. It is long enough that it's not a bad idea to keep a steady pace.

I've got my thinking cap on for GET overnighters. It's hard to put together loops, but a Rug Road out 'n back (you could ship beer to the cooler behind the old store in Klondyke) could be a worthy expedition.

Slot canyons and trails unknown wait beyond Safford, as well.

No, I was just joking :D I realized that on the 24 hour course when you were enjoying yourself and I was struggling to keep up with you, thanks again for forcing me along.

Sounds like a rendezvous. I am a slot canyon guru; canyoneering is another hobby that Dave and I have.

Hmmmmmmm.... We need Lee on this one, he is my comic relief when I start to suffer on these long rides, although Monday would be a no-go for me.

Post-ride Mexican in Green Valley. Anyone know a good spot?
How about the Mayan Mexican Bistro, if for no other reason than that they sponsored the Elephant Head race last year, and it looks like they will this year too. After the race I shared a table there with Richard and Scott from PBAA. The food was "upscale Mexican" (read: really good but not taco shop-cheap) but I was happy to support a sponsor.

Apparently I'm in the minority of folks with a "real job."

Good idea. Do you remember where it is in GV?

Now you have to join the ride, though. Didn't you learn from the AZT 300 thread? Once you post, you have to do the ride.

See you then.

Sorry guys, I thought this would be a good time to advertise my exotic table business.

I was so disappointed when I clicked on the link...
