Finally finished my build. Rail setup as a mullet with a 160 Lyrik. I9 hydras with Derby rims. Weight is 31.8 lb.

Not sure I'd do the Invisiframe gloss again as it mutes the cool two-tone paint job. Matte film might be better, dunno. 3 rides in Sedona so far. I'm impressed at how well the bike pedals.

Nice looking bike Joe. Did you go 160 on the fork to keep the geometry consistent while using the 29” front wheel?

Correct. That keeps the geometry close to a 65 HA with a 170 27.5 fork. I also like the 75 deg SA. The super steep SA fad is hard for an old gummer like me to get used to.

I need more ride time but compared to my V1 Evil Offering the Rail climbs better (more efficiently not sure yet about technical uphill), is more stable, but not as lively. But still quite playful and dynamic in the usual clichés of bike lexicon. The mullet thing is interesting and it's much easier to throw the rear around corners whereas the 29r front needs more weight placement to get it to track. Maybe it's simply not a bike for going on autopilot but it's different for sure. I'm digging being back on a bigger travel bike after selliing my Turner RFX. I may sell my Offering since there is more overlap in riding experience and pick up a smaller travel 29r for xc-ish rides and long backcountry days. Maybe a Following but superboost might be a deal breaker.

Snow ride yesterday to wake up the legs and the desert one is today.

Mezzer is 170mm, replaced a Fox 36 at same travel. Going coil shock in a couple of weeks, just waiting for the shock to come in.

Currently running Kenda HK 2.6 up front and a 2.4 HK in the rear that was too worn out for front duties, really good combo.

Still goofing around with pedals, Nukeproof Horizon/Sam Hills on there right now which are good, have some Crampon pedals that I'm trying longer pins on.

Last couple of bikes I had before this were Ibis Mojo HD 4, Evil Insurgent v1, GG Megatrail, Knolly Warden v2, and an Insurgent v2.

Definitely climbs really well for a 170/165 front rear travel bike which is critical here in Arizona with our terrain. Very confidence inspiring coming down, nice and smooth, have yet to find anything where it feels overwhelmed, really fun bike to ride.

I have always been intrigued by Canfield bikes and the CBF voodoo is legit, really interesting and unique feel for sure.

I was wondering if you'd keep the Offering when I saw the Rail weighs the same or less but has more travel. Like you said, lots of overlap. Short travel 29er like the Following, Ibis Ripley, etc might be fun for a second bike.

I also did clear and was bummed about losing the two tone. From what I've come across is that the matte will do the same with a little less protection to boot.

Oh and the bike is good looking!

Does anybody have a rail? Send pics of your build and lets discuss this awesome bike!
Got this together late in the season, so still not totally dialed. I think the X2 that came with it is overdamped (tuned for someone a lot heavier than me), because I'm still not 100% happy with how it descends after taking out all the volume spacers and speeding up the compression and rebound. I picked up a used Super Deluxe, because it seems that Rail owners with those are pretty happy with performance. Anyone know what the stock Super Deluxe number of volume spacers is from Revel (large frame)? I'll likely be sending the shock off to Avalanche Dh Racing to get it custom tuned at some point, (I'm still missing how well my Transition Patrol with Avy tuned Super Deluxe worked both up and down) but wanted to give it a chance in it's stock LL setup.

Man! That bike looks great with a blue fork on it. I have the same experience with the shock on my Rascal, it feels very overdamped for my weight. Planning on having it revalved by my local suspension shop at some point.

What are your impressions on the Diamond D1?

I'm in the market for a fork right now on a different bike and Diamond D1 is on my short list of contenders.

Fly ass blue...check

I was talking to someone recently and they asked about what bikes I have. When I mentioned the Rail they said that they demoed one and felt like it was slow.

That was a head scratcher for me as on my GPS I'm faster on the Rail but I think the controlled feeling it gives can be construed as slower.

This person is big on Yeti bikes which I don't have any personal experience with but was the first time I have heard the Rail described that way.

Awesome photos there for sure!

I'm hard pressed to think of a 165mm travel bike that pedals better. Maybe the Ibis Ripmo but the Rail is far more capable on the down. Ripmo just felt dead to me which might equate to "planted" but not nearly as lively. I'd call that 'controlled feeling' confidence inspiring!

I totally agree, I'm all for thrills and chills but I feel like Rail and planted/controlled bikes let you go faster which is scary on one hand but also fun AF on the other
