My bike has some worn out Schwalbe Rapid Rob 29x2.25 tires and I would like to get some Maxxis Ardent Race 3C Exo TR 29x2.35 tires. Do you think they are a good choice? Also, I'm worried that these tires might not last long, since they're race tires? Is this true? Thanks.

You are correct in that "Race" type tires are usually softer compounds and lighter casings, this makes them less durable but that really depends on how you abuse them.

Tires are a personal preference thing that is really based mainly on your terrain you ride and your riding style (and to some extent your budget). Check with some of your local shops and other riders to see what they use and recommend. If you are looking for something that has a similar tread type as the Rapid Rob have worked out for you then pretty much any micro knobbed tire will perform similarly as those.
