I'm running a sram x-9 rd and my top cog is starting to get chipped teeth, the rest of the derailleur is in fine working order. Is it possible to get replacements for the little plastic cogs, if so, where?

also, is it possible to upgrade to aluminum cogs that might last longer?

They will have a whole box of them as spares from broken derailleurs. You can usually get them for free.
