Replacing 2.1 IRC Serac XC

752 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jrm
Looking to replace the stock Serac XC 2.1s on my Rush, these are the all black ones and they just do not cut it for year round riding in Northern California. Just do not seem substantial enough .

Can run up to a 2.3 on the rim and was wondering what some recommendations were. This is a pure XC bike and just looking for something with really good traction. Running WTB on my other bikes but thought I would look into another brand, running tubes too.

i hate to sound like the broken record, but give the Nevegal stick-e a try.
the nevegal is a little too burly for me, but i tried the DTC and it found grip on everything so i cant imagine how impressive the stick-e must be on sloppy stuff.
what would be the advantage of the dtc?
i looked at the blue grooves too
Nevegal/Adrenaline Combo

I ride mostly in Marin and my new favorite combo is a Nevegal 2.1 DTC rear with a Specialized Adrenaline Pro 2.0 in the front. Both tires are big for their claimed sizes and have reasonable weights and rolling resistance. If you want more traction in the back you could try the stick-e in the rear, but it won't last as long. I have also used the Nevegal 1.95 Lite in the rear, but I like the larger size and volume of the 2.1 better, especially if the terrain gets more technical (i.e. pine mountain, Tamarancho).

P.S. I like the Adrenaline over the Blue Groove because the knobs are little taller and seem to bite better when the top coat gets a little loose.
Thanks

Good to know what fellow trail riders are running.

You up for riding this weekend in Marin, few of us are hitting china camp sat at 9 am?

I would love to, but tomorrow is not good for me. I see that you post rides in the No Cal section, and I'll try and join you for a ride in the next few weeks. I rode the new White's Hill trail today, along the ridge line, and then down into Woodacre. Good ride, but very cold. Have a great ride tomorrow!

The BG is a good hardpack dry conditions tire. i tried the 2.1 BG and didnt like it as much as the 2.1 nev up fron on my XC bike. i run the 2.35 nevs f and r on the big bike and love um..
