I just got a good deal on a used Vivid 5.1 with some wear on its shaft. Should I replace it? I'm sending it to PUSH for a rebuild so I'll get some info from them, too. It isn't leaking oil but that's assuming that there is any left inside to leak. Clearly all the surface treatment is worn off. It doesn't look quite as dramatic in real life. Oh well.

Opinions?

from what I see in the picture the Gold anodizing is worn off. If that is in fact the case, the folks at PUSH Industries WILL replace it... I don't think there will be an option to leave it as is. When they work a shock most of the time re-valving is done which creates a bit more pressure inside the damping chamber, and it only takes a small leak to cause a big problem. I am sure that they will want to replace the shaft and the glide bushing where the shaft enters the damping chamber at the very least.
