Hi. I am setting up my bike for the incoming Bike New York on May 1 and I am repacking my bottom bracket. I have a BB-LP28 Shimano. It has this nut that I need to loosen so that I can access the inside part but I don't know what rotation to remove it. The nut is located on the right hand side of the BB. Please help. Thanks.

Are you up for a challenge?

The LP28 is a relatively heavy, low-quality OE cartridge that, like all other Shimano cartridge bottom brackets, was never meant to be serviced.

Far be it from me to tell you it can't be done -- I've seen others pry the seals up on their Shimano cartridges and inject some clean life into them -- but my suggestion involves a trash can and $15 or so spent on a new UN53 bottom bracket (or UN73 if you're open to spending more on something lighter and better sealed).
