My shoes have rubbed off big patches of black paint from my cranks (lasts years XT on an '04 Stumpy). Looks ugly

What is the best way to remove all the paint? It's too hard to sand or buff them - too many curves and recesses.

Some sort of paint stripper that won't stuff up the ali?

I usually use a sander w/ fine paper, a soft wire wheel, and fine paper by hand. Finally many hours of polishing w/ mothers aluminum polish. Most cranks are anodized or powder coated so chemical strippers won't work.
