Removing Demo 7/8 rear shock

I'm about to remove the shock from my Demo 7 II. If I understand correctly, I have to open the linkage to get it out. Does it matter which pivot of the magnesium link I open, seatstay side or frame side? Can't find this info from manuals.

you shouldnt have to take the link off, when i took mine off to send it to push, i did not have to remove the link, just took both of the mounting bolts to the shock off, made sure i didnt lose the spacers, and pulled it out, no need to remove the link.
