01 Manitou SX-R, Oil / elastomer. Will removing the fork boots cause a problem?
Warranty is not an issue anymore but you'll end up with a lot of dirt in your fork and a set of busted wipers. They're designed to work with the boots.

Check out www.enduroforkseals.com and get some enduro seals from Chris. You'll need the boots no more.

Most forks come with no boots, although they boast keeping everything out, once something gets in,it's makes a home in your seals. If they seal pretty well,i would say stick with them. But,if they have crud behind them i would take a knife to them and get new seals.
