I am trying to remove the 600# spring from the DHX coil to replace it with a 500# spring, but the spring is so long that I can't remove the retainer. I need to compress the spring a bit to shorten it enough to remove it, but compressing a 600# spring by hand seems impossible. Any thoughts on how to get this puppy off. The spring has at least 1 more coil than the 500#...it's freakin' long.

Get a pile of SUPER BURLY zip ties, thread them through the spring, compress the suspension just a little, and crank the ties down to hold the spring partly compressed. DO NOT try to compress the spring very much- just enough to slip it off the shock. Any more than that and the zip ties may break and take your arm off as a bonus.

Note the caps for SUPER BURLY.

The Alaska Fish Counter there is right, just be sure to use enough. you dont wamt to be handling the spring if the zips let go.
