I noticed a few months ago that my Remedy doesn't have a drain hole at the bottom of the BB to let water out of the frame, I'm sure this has damaged a few BB's now because I have to wash my bike after most rides and for quite a while I didn't realise there was no drain.

Has anyone else noticed this, am I wrong in expecting this in a frame?

I have emailed Trek and they just confirmed that it doesn't have one . Although it works it's frustrating to have to leave the bike upside down after I wash it.

Not sure how your washing practices go but personally I won't put a hose near my bike. When I first stated mtn biking i'd break out the hose, scrub brushes, towels and even my air compressor. When I was done my bike looked good though not sparkly clean. Over time I noticed rust on fastner heads..hmm. One day I went to ride my bike and the rear hub wouldn't ratchet - found out the bearing seized due to water intrusion and it was the middle of the summer !.What I found out was my washing was killing my bike from the inside out. All my bearings had water intrusion. Now I just keep my drivetrain clean and wipe off big clumps of mud if needed. Only time I clean is for repairs.

It's the first bike I've had that doesn't have one, it just leaves my BB sitting in a pool of water...
I wash and service my bikes regularly, I live in the UK and often have to ride in thick mud and if I don't wash my bike thoroughly they run like crap the next ride and also drop dirt all over the house. I road race professionally and ride and race XC for fun so bike cleaning and maintainance are perhaps more common than with moat people.

I suspect my alu Remedy doesn't have one because for weight savings the tube is thin where as on the carbon they can more easily specifically reinforce the drain hole area, if it even matters. One day I might get a carbon one, the idea of a full carbon Remedy (rear triangle ad well) plus a rear Maxle is a big turn on! ;)
