Released fork air the wrong way :(

790 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mtnbiker4life
I recently got my new bike with my first air fork, and looking to release some air I promptly pressed on the schrader valve instead of through the pump. Some goo flew in my face to teach me a lesson. It doesn't seem to be losing air after a couple rides, though.

How do I refill the goo? The fork is a Fox F120 RL, but I can't find a manual on the website.

You're fine, don't worry about it. It's normal to have some oil spray when you do that.
A little of that goo comes out during pump removal. Just keep a mental note that in a few months you may need to put some goo back in......so you keep those o-rings lubed. But putting to much in will affect the forks performance because it takes up volume (space) which is used to tune the air spring.
Good to know it'll be alright! But how do I put some back in after a couple months, and what kind of "goo" is it?

Thanks again.

After you let all the air out pull the valve core then dump it in with a syringe. Fox sells those 5cc pillow packs.
