Ride Report
Great morning, though darned nipply at first. Technical riding-wise, Dakota is something of a benchmark for me, so it's good that at least I can say my crash frequency is going down, and the number or attempts on some of the tougher sections is going down too. What used to spook me earlier this season is now generally no problem, though I don't think I'll ever be able to clean the second set of water bar ramps. Case of beer anyone?
Maybe the best part was back on the Mathews/Winters side. While heading up the meadow I stopped to watch a herd of deer moving slowly up the canyon, when two of the most gorgeous runners on the planet ran up and stopped to watch them with me. I chatted them up a bit, trying to sound all "bunny hugger" to impress them and gain their trust, but except for asking about ibmkidIII over and over, they didn't say much and moved on pretty quickly.
I rode behind them for a bit and then politely rode past them trying to look "World Class" and hoping I didn't seem like too much of a dork.
Anyway, awesome ride, high 6:AM flake factor. I was the only one who showed up. No worries, but I gotta name names: Out of five guys supposed to be there, JP called me saying he was on the way, then called back saying he wouldn't make it because he forgot his shoes. 3 others (SDizzle & friend, Frontranger) were no shows.
For those interested in ride times, I finished the ride back at the lot in 1 hour 30 minutes and was on the road by 7:35am.
No mechanicals.
Traffic note: Sucked since I was caught in the middle of all the 8:AM rush. Must extend rides to 8:AM.
