I booked flights into SLC for a family vacation at the end of April. My thoughts are to hit Moab & Fruita, and also check out some slot canyons in the Hanksville UT area.

Any beta on must-do rides, hikes, dinosaur stuff, etc. would be most appreciated.

Whats up Rob? Drop me a message or a email and I'll get started on some Beta transfer.

Moab is an easy 4 hour drive from SLC and a great destination with riding/hiking/climbing and National Parks.

I have a good slot canyon/camping spot on the way from SLC to Moab too.

Urban on the Temple steps while wearing LDS undergarments over you riding clothes.

End of April is FFTF as well and we'll be cruising through Moab on the way again. If the stars align, and you don't get arrested for the urban session, perhaps we can share some red rock.

p.s. Don't even try to Google for a picture of LDS sacred underwear. Scary.

Dammn, this stuff actually looks quite comfortable. Wear do you get yours, Pete? Are you allowed to wash it?? (Anyone notice the resemblance to Brad Trent?)

We'll be flying out on Sat. of the FFTF, so will miss the big bash(es), but will be around all week. It'd be good to hook up for a ride.

Joe - thanks, I knew you'd have the goods. I'll drop you a line. I think we might rent an RV and have a mobile party.

:D LOL....hmmm....never thought of that. You've seen the bike cops and what they ride here in SLC, I assume. No trouble with the getaway, for sure. ;)

...Always wondered if you could set a kicker ramp to boot over the fountain in the "Little Bit O' Paris" park in front of the Temple...you know, that little spot the city sold that was once Main Street!

Edit: As for destinations, skip Moab, definitely hit Fruita, and if time permits, hit the Virgin and St. George area, specifically Gooseberry Mesa, Little Creek Mesa (if you can find it), The Redbull course, and the Broken Mesa Trail (St. George). The Intermountain Cup XC race course on/near the Green Valley Loop in Saint George isn't bad, either.

Head for the Dinosaurs

If you are interested in Dinosaur national monument let me know. It is over by Vernal, UT. It is a good stop for kids. It is about 2 hours north of Fruita. There isn't much in the town of Dinosaur. Couple of coffee shops a gas station or two. There is some riding in Vernal UT that is pretty good. Check out Altitude cycles for more info in Vernal.

What type of riding do you like? There is lots of new and otherwise unknown stuff around Moab that I could show you -- several weeks' worth at least -- involving scads or slickrock and singletrack (regardless of what the guidebooks and/or common knowledge would have you believe). Do you know what dates you will be in town? It would be fun to hook up for some riding.

There are also many choice hiking spots around here which I could point out.

That was probably the last thing.... I want in too!

That is probably the last thing I would ever think of "looking up"
I have even seen them in person! That is just an awful pic!

If you are going to hook up with Joe, then you gotta bring me too!
There are lots of rides around here! Not too many though will be rideable in the SLC area, but there will be some for sure..

But there are of course the areas south of here too.

I'm mostly into technical XC riding, but am willing to walk anything that's over my head. That fin ride you posted a while back looks incredibly interesting - Amasa singletrack too. We'll be in Moab the last week of April, mixed in with some Fruita time.

I was also hoping to get you to point us in the right direction for some hikes without asking you to divulge any of your secret spots.
