I have a 2004 Trek 6700 with a few upgrades. The specs for my wheel set right now is:

Alloy front, Shimano rear hub; Maverick rims (all stock equip.)

I am also considering disc brakes as my frame does support it, yet my hubs do not. I have biked since I was a kid but this is my first "real" bike and I would appreciate any suggestions. I usually do street/off road trails. I would want something that can take some punishment as I have been becoming a more agressive rider.

SPAM ALERT, with a suggestion mixed in

Sun RhynoLite's are supposedly among the most sturdy rims available for aggressive trail riders according to reviews on this site. http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Rim/product_22623.shtml
The tradeoff for their sturdiness is they are a bit on the heavy side(550 grams versus a lightweight rim ~400-450 grams).

Within a week I will have a slightly used disc wheelset available- RhynoLite rims with stock alloy disc hubs. Nothing special, but the price will be right.....
