I always feel like I'm holding onto a pencil in each hand when I'm riding.

Does anyone make grips with a larger outside diameter than usual?

Thanks!

Update time. I've purchased and measured a few different grips since I started this thread. And thanks again for all the recommendations.

Ergon GP-1s, measured on the small axis, are 33mm on the inside, 35mm middle, 31mm at the outside.

Sunline Big S: 33mm

ODI Rogue: 33mm

Race Face Strafe: 33mm

Lizard Skins North Shore: 33mm

Yes, really. All were measured repeatedly, with calipers.
There is no measurable difference between those grips.

So far the Ergons are my favorite. I don't have a strong opinion about the extension thing under my palm, but my fingers are most comfortable with those grips. I need to do some more a/b testing to really make up my mind though.

The Brooks grips, at $90, were too expensive to buy just to test, and I have never seen them locally. They do look pretty fat though, so it's kinda tempting. :)
The ESI "Extra Chunky" are 34mm

The Brooks adjustable "plump" grips are 35mm.

The RedMonkey Klampz are also 35mm.

lizard skins north shore, or odi rogues
 - they are actually thickest (lockgrips) available - diameter is 32,5 - 33mm.
Only Ergon offers thicker ones if their shaping will fit - measured my GP1`s (compatible with gripshifts) and they are ~ 38mm diam.

Try wrapping road bike bar tape over a set of grips.......start on the outside and over wrap the initial end and work in. Pull it TIGHT each time around. Tape the loose end w/ electrical tape.
I did this on a whim to the stock lock ons that came on my Giant Anthem. They were way too small for me and this work like a charm!! Very comfy too.....

One thing I have found is that even though thick grips are more comfy to me than thin grips, adding additional thickness in the middle section makes the grips even more comfortable since it fills up the hollowed out part of my palm a bit better. The only one I know of that does that is the Race Face Good N Evil grips. I use XL gloves and have pretty big yet not thick hands.
