Rebuilding Lefty M

Hi. This might be a real stupid question, but I figured I'd throw it out there. I have a '00 Jekyll with a Lefty M; I beleive this is one of the first generations of Leftys out there. As far as I know, it is spring+elastomer and, save changing to a "red" spring or whatever, there is not really anyway to adjust the rebound or compression, or lock the fork out (granted, I still like the fork quite a bit; since I rode rigid until a few months ago, this is a whole new world!). I have been looking around for used, newer Lefty's, but haven't pulled the trigger because of financial reasons. Now the potentially stupid question: Is it possible to send the Lefty M back to Cannondale and have it rebuilt/upgraded to a DLR with lockout, or something similar? If so, would this be worth the cost or would I be better off just buying a new or used one? Thanks for your help!

I delted my post. I appologize if any part of my retort was construed as Cannondale hating. I love Cannondale and I think this is a really cool forum, so I hope I can continue the dialouge I have had with many of you already. Later!
A brand of bike has nothing to do with the arrogance of one idiot. There are jerks who buy great bikes as there are nice, helpful and smart people buying crappy bikes...

With that said, I'm not familiar with the Lefty M but I doubt it can be retrofitted with a current generation Lefty internal. Cannondale have a trade-in program. You give them your old Lefty and get a new one at a reduced price. They are still expensive though, see you local Cannondale dealer for pricing. You can also look for a used modern Lefty. You can probably go with a 100/110mm Lefty without problems on your frame as they are not much taller than a Headshok or older Lefty.

Hummm, maineride's post vanished... mods are doing their work it seems.

Mod..not plural ;)
Ill probably drop the retort too, unless he wants to do it for me...No point leaving it really...I thought I got mainride quick enough....
Usually quiet in here....:D
WTF? Tanner I have no idea why this is attracting so many wierdo's, (what's up with kidds response, anyone?) but this forum is normally very civil. drop me a note @[email protected], sounds like you have an oddball on your hands, as they have all had lockout, and are air sprung until the most recent Max generation.
Not so, Mendon.

THere is a Lefty M model that is coil sprung. No lockout, very basic.

It is upgradeable to the DLR cartridge. (it is spendy, if I remember right.)

Other than that, and no rebound control, its working bits are the same as a 2001 Lefty DLR.
