I have a 1998 Specialized FSR extreme with a rock shox coupe deluxe rear shock. The shock is shot and I want to purchase a different shock to replace it and I have some questions.
1. My shock (on the bike) measures 6.25" eye to eye, has anyone fitted a 6.5" shock to this frame?
2. Suggestions on a suitable replacement?

I dont want to sink too much money into this bike, but it is not that fun to ride in its current condition.

Thanks for the advice!!!

My guess is that

the most cost effective, cheapest solution would be to send the shock back to RS for a Rebuild, maybe you will get lucky and they will replace it with something better, but who knows.

I would figure this would cost a lot less than trying to find a replacement shock. Oh, by the way, most times if you get a shock that is longer than what was in your bike, it messes things up. so don't go from 6.25 eye to eye to 6.5 eye to eye and expect it to work and just give you more travel. I don't think it works that way.
