I need a recommendation for a rear rack for my Redline Cross Bike. It lacks eyelets. Ideally, I'd like to mount via the cantilever brake mounts. Old Man Mountain Sherpa racks are too steep; my last rack was stolen right off my bike and I don't want to drop $110 on a rack that might get stolen. Any other recommendations?

The OMM racks are the only ones that come to mind. I've got one on my commuter that uses the cantilever mounting. Pretty sturdy stuff.

You can also go the cheap route; buy a regular rack, go the hardware store and buy some pipe clamps (many racks come with these, but the ones from the hardware store are beefier) then just bolt the rack on.

OMM racks are burly and well-made, but also really expensive.

Thanks for the info folks... I think I'm probably leaning towards spending the money on the OMM rack. Its a really nice rack and the torx fasteners are a good idea.

Another option would be to go with the Tubus quick release mounting kit.

It might be possible to modify for other rack systems, but I have not seen the pieces in person.

The OMM racks are of very high quality and the axle-mounting is secure even with >50lbs of gear loaded on a rack.
