I want to upgrade my hardware and go with a Ti/Aluminum mix. I want to change the rear derailleur pivot bolt. How do I do this??? It's the ONLY bolt that I have never dealt with before on a bike, so i'd like a heads-up as to what's involved. I can't even remember that last time I had one off a bike.

Also, Ti or aluminum for this? Opinions and experience are welcome.

If someone has a link to a site, or can just give me directions, i'd appreciate it.

EDIT - it's a Shimano Deore XT from '98, Integrated, long cage, just incase the anotomy of derailleurs has changed recently.

As far as the pivot bolt material goes, if your bike doesn't have a replaceable hanger go aluminum. You want the bolt to break before your frame.
