Rear bike rack question

I am planning on getting a rack to put on the rear of my RH comp disc to strap down my cooler when I commute to work. Now when I am out on the trails, will the rack be in my way? I figure it would stop mud from flinging on my back, but will it be an issue?

Read the thread " why no racks " , I bumped it to the top of the first page in this forum .
