Have been ridin' cross country and freeride for about ten years, but decided it was time for more of a downhill bike. Bought an 06 Big Hit III; don't know where to find advice on safety equipment, things I should know about how to ride, where to ride, or anything else. Suggestions would be much appreciated. None of my buddies ride downhill...

Yup full face helmet, Fox knee & shin guards, EVS elbow guards, Oakley goggles, EVS PP03 & PP05 shorts, Troy Lee DH OR FR baggys, gloves & jersey.

when i ride i just use a ful face, goggles, gloves, DH shorts with padding and knee/shin combo pads. some people like to be completely geared up but im confortable with what i have

ask around, hang out in the DH bike shops(ask mechanics and customers)...wait on aweekend at the local DH trail....

basically try to hook up with DH riders to help you out
