I'm re-posting this from the all mountain forum:

Anybody have time estimates for the key spots on the d'ville xc course? I'm going to do a trial run and would like to work on some target times, with a 2:30 time as the goal:

For example:
start in sierra city: 0:00
the shale-ey section of the climb: 0:30
the false summit: 1:00
beginning of baby heads: 1:20
water crossing: 1:45
second divide: 2:00
exit onto the road: 2:20
finish: 2:30

thats just a sample (and i may have some of the name wrong -- I'm not sure about 3rd divide vs 2nd divide).

It's really hard to use someone else's splits to gauge your performance for this course. They may be a better climber and not as good of a descender or vice versa. For me Climbing to Packers has always been about half of my time. But I'm not a great climber. Now that they've added the Sunrise Trail I think the times will be about 10-15 minutes slower than last year. I.E. Last years 2:30 will now be a 2:40-2:45.

I have some estimates:

start in sierra city: 0:00
the shale-ey section of the climb: 1:20 (blue point corner?)
packer saddle: 1:45
beginning of baby heads: 2:10
- cramp #1: 3:00
second divide: 3:10
- cramp #2: 3:30
exit onto the road: 3:40 (pavement?)
finish: 3:45

Clearly cramp #1 happens immediately on the other side of Pauley Creek crossing, which would put it around @;25, 2:25...

:)
Though, with Sunrise in the mix, Cramp #1 would now happen on the 'traverse', immediately after the bottom of Sunrise.
