My Bike:
03(?) Razorback Team, Way Big
(alu chainstay with fox pull shock}
Fox F80X
X9 Triggers
XT fd, XO rd
Stylo Team cranks
XT 11-34 cass.
Dura Ace chain
Monkey Lite SL bars
Marta SL Carbon brakes
Mavic 3.1 UST/Hugi 240 wheelset
Roll-X Pro's w/Stans

My problem: Sheared the drive side chainstay last weekend.

What sucks: Apparently K2 sold the rights for the design, parts and service to Iron Horse who, so far, has refused to sell me a replacement part. I was told that the remaining parts inventory was for warranty service only. I sincerely doubt that there is a Razorback out there that is still under warranty- I guess that makes their job pretty easy...

This bike rocked but I'm not sure K2 will be on my short list next time.
Anyone have a set of chainstays laying around?

Man, that sucks. It sucks for you, and it sucks for the rest of us Razorback owners. Looks like from now on if we need anything we're SOL. I didn't know Iron Horse had entered the picture.

If you are the original owner & can prove it (receipt) this should still be under the five year warranty. If your not the orig owner & would just like to purchase one, PM me. I dont have a "set of chainstays" but I do have a chainstay that will work. ;)

cheers,

You may want to contact K2... Tom B. in warranty/customer service is awesome. I am completely blown away by this company's customer service. I have had horrible luck with another unmentionable company in the past and expected the same. Not a chance, these guys rock!

Recently, my 2002 Grassroots Team cracked around the shock housing... K2 has been awesome and is doing all they can to help me. Anyway, you may give it a shot. I have had nothing but good dealings!

I'm listening!

Warmonkey,

I'm sure there's a way to get your bike back on the trail again. Sorry that you didn't find the answer you wanted from WWCS/K2 Bike on the first try, so let's try again.

As DPCX mentioned, the warranty for K2 Bike full suspension frames is 5 years. We produced Razorbacks through the 2005 model year, so that means we need to stand behind original owners of these bikes through 2010. If you did buy your Razorback new through one of our dealers, then solving your problem should be relatively simple.

World Wide Cycle Supply, the owners of the Iron Horse brand, did license the K2 Bike brand from K2 Sports last fall. In addition to myself, three other people who had previously worked on K2 Bike are still actively involved with the brand.

WWCS took over responsibility for K2 Bike warranty and service parts only earlier this year. Honestly, we're still trying to determine exactly which replacement parts are still possible to source from their manufacturers, and which are simply no longer available.

Until we do, please understand that our standard policy needs to prioritize warranty replacements over service parts orders. We want all owners of K2 Bike models to continue to enjoy riding them, but may need to find other ways to help those whose bikes have passed outside of the warranty period, or that bought their bikes second-hand.

Could you private message me with more details (pictures, serial number and ownership history) about your bike? I'll see what we can do to get you riding again as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Regards,
T.K. Malone
