I race SS, and have a geared Racer X that is my fun long ride bike. In the process of getting my new SS rig built, but unfortuantely the parts didn't arrive in time for the race this weekend. I deciced to pull the Titus apart and run it as a SS...
Lowered the front derailleur to as low as practically possible, used a cable to hold tension to middle chain ring.
Used Sram derailleur as rear tensioner which was great as it allowed a bit of movement, chain slap etc etc. Used it in firm propedal and also fully open.. not a problem. Just used spacers on the rear freehub to get the right chain line.
Did NOT skip or drop off at all.
It worked sweet, didn't miss a beat! If you have thought of trialing such as setup, have a go!
