i just bought a raceface prodigy xc crankset and the rings say it's for 9speed. can i use the rings with a 8speed drivetrain? if not, does anyone know where i can buy a new set of 8speed chainrings in a 4 bolt pattern? thanks.

a 9 speed will work with an 8, but not the other way around. Your good to go.

As mentioned below, you're good to go.

One comment, take good care of the threads. They're weak and can be damaged very easily, at least that's my experience with the Prodigy cranks.

Good point! Also, use some greese on the splines and USE a torque wrench.

I run those on my 8 speed bike and they work fine. You also may have to move the front derailler up to clear the top chain ring.
