I haven't used either dropper, but I have used an expensive dropper, a Rockshox Reverb, and a very inexpensive dropper, a BrandX. They both do exactly the same job and have been reliable. The Reverb I did have to service, whereas the BrandX just keeps on ticking with no issues. My conclusion is there's no reason to overpay for a dropper post unless you're concerned about counting grams. A high end dropper post ads nothing to your bike that a cheaper one can't deliver, other than perhaps weight savings.
