MASS START FRENZY AND MOUNTAIN BIKE MADNESS FESTIVAL
Heartland Mountain Bike Championship Series #7 (THE FINALE)

This a reminder of the festivities occurring next weekend Saturday, July
24, 2004 at Landahl Park Reserve in Independence. The dirt is drying
and the riding is perfect. The trails are all freshly groomed and ready
for some knobby good times. All the info you need can be found below.
In addition to racing, the day is also filled with music, food and all
around good times with the 3rd Annual Mountain Bike Madness Festival.
All proceeds from the festival directly benefit the Jackson County Parks
Department's trail systems.

A FEW IMPORTANT ITEMS OF NOTE:
1. This is a SATURDAY ONLY event. NO festivities on Sunday.
2. All festivities will occur from the TRUMAN ROAD trail head.
(directions below)
3. Overall Series award ceremony will take place immediately following
the Race #7 award ceremony
4. Course maps are available. Please email us at the following address

5. Expert racers and above need to have a NORBA license!

MASS START FRENZY EVENT DETAILS:

WHEN: Saturday, July 24, 2004. We race Rain or Shine.

WHERE: Landahl Park Reserve Independence, MO. Truman Road Trailhead.
Jackson County Parks and Recreation gem.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-70 either West from St. Louis or East from Kansas
City until you reach 7 highway at Blue Springs. Turn North on 7-Hwy go
approximately 4.0 miles until you reach Truman road (MO FF/E), turn East
(right) for approximately 2.1 miles until you reach William Landahl Park
Reserve on the right side of the road.
Turn in where you see the Race Today signs.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS for Saturday, March 20th
8:00am Race Day registration opens.
10:00am Registration closes.
10:15am Racer meeting.
10:30am And they're off! The Mass Start Frenzy starts.
12:00pm 3rd Annual Mountain Bike Madness Festival begins.
1:00pm Kids Race
1:30pm Race #7 Awards ceremony
2:15pm Overall Series Awards ceremony

COURSE INFO for Saturday, July 24th: (MASS START FRENZY POINT TO POINT)

General info: Landahl has fairly technical trails w/ rocks and mostly
short-up climbs.

Course---> Starts w/ apx 2.0 miles of double track around the event site
and up onto the Boulevard. Up a short rocky climb for a jaunt onto
Family trail. Back onto the bean field for another 1.5 miles of double
track. Pop back into the woods for a stroll through Root Canal and then
enjoy a screaming descent down Tasty Goodness. You now have .5 miles of
double track back to the event site. This now ends the race for the
Beginners and First-Timers. The Sport/Expert riders will continue back
up to the Boulevard. Descend down to the Gravel Pit and enjoy the climb
back up through Scott's Gun Barrel. A quick stroll down Family Trail,
across to Dave's Maze and onto Will's Wanderer. A short section of
double track followed by a trek down Rim Job.

Current Conditions---> perfect. fast.

Sport/expert (ORANGE course):

Length---> 12.0 miles (apx)

Lap times---> if conditions stay the same, experts will be in the 60
minute range

All Classes will do one (1) lap.

Beginner/first-timer (BLUE course)

Length--->6.5 miles (apx)

Lap times--->if conditions stay the same, times will be in the 40-45
minute range.

All Classes will do one (1) lap.

Kids Race---> The kids race will be run on a separate course around the
main event site.

*Of course, this is all subject to change depending on factors outside
of our control.
