Quickie: PF92 BB, plastic or aluminium

330 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Cleared2land
HI all,
I bought a new PF92 bottom bracket from Facebook marketplace. It's for a Remedy 8, which has an alloy frame. The Shimano one I bought has plastic bearing retainers, which I believe is intended for carbon frames. I haven't replaced my BB before but, again, I believe it currently has aluminium bearing retainers.

Question: Will it fit my Remedy and if it does, are there any likely issues such as longevity?

TIA, Simon

The nominal size is the same; the material of the frame has no bearing on materials of the bottom bracket.

That said, the Shimano ones are a tight fit, and don't creak.

I have never seen a bottom bracket for alloy or carbon frames.
