How is this bike:
http://www.rscycle.com/s.nl/it.A/id.7932/.f?sc=7&category=56#
For someone who is 5'11" and about 220#? I would be using it to commute to work (with proper tires) but still want something capable for some offroad use. Since I am a newbie, I don't anticipate any huge drops or extreme trails, but I still want something decent

Also, how is the overall value of this bike considering there is 10% off as well on the site bringing it to about $566 or so. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Aside from the hubs/wheelset, it looks like a good bike for the money. I wouldn't let the wheelset stop you from buying it, but its something to be aware of. Also, plan on paying another ~$50-$100 for a bike shop to either assemble or thoroughly tune the bike once its shipped to you...

Beware!

Just bought the exact same bike 19". Great bike, but the fork is too softly sprung for your weight. I weigh 235# and the MZ-1 Lockout fork has too much sag, even with max preload. I checked with Marzocchi and they don't make a replacement spring for this OEM fork, and no aftermarket either. I've e-mailed several pro mechanics and no luck. I'm probably gonna have to upgrade my fork...too bad, it's brand new. Its not horrible as is, but a bit soft and could be a lot better with stiffer spring.
Good Luck...Let me know if you get any more info.
