I got a chance to ride a Pugs yesterday and have been bitten by the fat bug. Quickest way for me to get into the snow is to replace the front end on my Gary Fisher and go fat up front, studded and skinny in the rear.
I'm headed for an Endo on an 80mm rim on the front. Can I fit that combo on a Pugsley 100mm fork, or do I need to go to the 135mm spacing?
I know I lose the front/back interchangeability with the 100mm fork. OTOH, I can build up or buy a standard 29er wheel and swap that in instead of changing the fork when I don't want fat.
Anyone know about the fit on the 100mm fork?
LATER:
Found the answer in Surly's own catalog: both forks will fit a 4" tire, but the 100mm may require a bit of finesse to get it into. I pulled the trigger in my half-fat-Fisher project. 100mm fork, 80mm wheel, Endo, etc., are all on their way.
TIA,
