Any thoughts on whether I should go with an X01 chain over a GX chain for these e-fatties? X01 are double the cost. I'm thinking the X01 is money well spent. Anyone disagree?

how does the battery handle the cold, do you bring them inside to charge?

No. I struggled with this for a bit and solved it using 2 old school rubber hot water bottles from the dollar store on the down tube. Then I got a little more upscale and bought 2 car battery blankets for $45 CDN. They work great - very little inconvenience and no issues to date.

As I am sure you know, with the Shimano battery system, you are unable to charge below freezing. Which is good because otherwise you would harm the batteries. The hot water bottles and battery blankets both work great. Problem solved.
